Acrylic on paper10X15 cm. We arrived in Kerry in June — a farmhouse near Listowel, everything new, still finding its shape.

One autumn day I stopped on Bridge Road and looked up. The church, the trees, the last of the golden light fading into grey, long shadows cutting across the trunks of those ancient giants lining the road into town. To the locals, it was just an ordinary street they'd walked a hundred times. To me, it was a painting waiting to happen.

There's something I keep coming back to — how familiarity can make us stop seeing. I was still seeing everything for the first time. That first autumn in Ireland taught me to look slowly.

The original painting is now part of a private collection.
