Some places make you feel really small. In the best way. This is Conor Pass, on the Dingle Peninsula — the heart of Kerry. Ancient mountains, empty valleys, small lakes scattered below like they've been sitting there for centuries. Which, honestly, they probably have. I remember standing there thinking about how brief we are, how this landscape was here long before me and will stay long after. It puts things in perspective. And the colours — that particular Irish palette you don't find anywhere else. Pale gold of winter grass, deep moss green, grey-brown rock. Quiet, muted, like the land is holding its breath. When I met this world within a world, I couldn't stay in it for long, though I wanted to — the wind was so strong it nearly took my hat off, and I couldn't even get the car door open properly. That's Kerry weather for you... but it was worth it. The original painting was shown at my first solo exhibition, "The Place That Found Me," and sold on opening night
