FOYNES VIEW

Year:2025

Acrylic on Paper: 27.5×85.5 cm

I stood at the edge of water and time, where the port breathes diesel and salt, welcoming ships without pause, without rhythm — beyond any clock.

This is Foynes, on the Shannon Estuary — a working harbour where cargo moves with the routes and the eras, and the plant on the far shore burns against the sunset like a monument to human effort.

Once, seaplanes touched down on these very waters, and Irish coffee was born here — invented mid-air and mid-fog, out of a journey rather than a war. Now it’s containers, gulls, and quiet — the smooth water beneath steel platforms. Nature doesn’t disappear here; it transforms. Its voice now speaks through metal and form — the rough honesty of steel, the pulse of labour and salt, machine and hand working as one.
