Name: Abandoned House
Year: 2023
Acrylic On Paper 210 mm x 265 mm
Ireland is full of forgotten houses like this one — half-swallowed by nature, hiding quietly in the thickets, easy to miss unless you’re looking. A rusted roof, a doorway grown over, walls still standing out of sheer stubbornness.
Each one holds someone’s past life — voices, routines, ordinary days that once filled these rooms. A reminder of how quickly time moves on, whether we’re ready or not.
Some old houses find new owners eventually. They get rebuilt, restored, given another chapter. Others simply wait — and keep waiting, slowly returning to the land around them. There’s a particular kind of melancholy in that, one that feels distinctly Irish — nostalgia settled quietly into stone.
